About Counselling
People generally seek counselling because they're feeling upset. This might be about something that's happened, such as a trauma or loss, either in the present, or in the past. It could be an ongoing relationship problem, maybe with a friend, partner or work colleague/s, or it could be a more internal difficulty such as depression, anxiety, low self esteem, or low self confidence.
Whatever the problem, counselling offers a safe space to explore the difficulties, understand them more fully, and look at options for changing them.
Good counselling is the foundation of all good therapy and many people are able to resolve their problems just by talking them through in a confidential, supportive space with someone who is really listening.
Sometimes other therapies can enhance and/or speed up this process.
Because of this, I sometimes integrate Hypnotherapy, Brainspotting, and, where appropriate, Traumatic Incident Reduction into sessions. (Though, of course, only when clients feel happy to work with these approaches).
