My Personal Approach:
I'm a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist and I'm also trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction and Brainspotting. I believe these approaches provide really safe and effective ways of getting to grips with and resolving the kinds of problems that can cause the most upset in people's lives.
I know that every single person who walks through my door is a unique individual. Anyone with enough 'get-up-and-go' to come for therapy will have far more strengths than weaknesses. You're bound to know a lot more about what works and doesn't work for you than I ever can. I aim to provide a friendly, down to earth service that's tailored to you, your values and your lifestyle.
I always aim to listen carefully, to really understand the problem and its impact on you and to work with you to find solutions that are right for you.

Diploma in Hypnotherapy (Academy of Advanced Changework 2010)
Diploma in Counselling (Metanoia Institute 1989)
Diploma in Supervision (Institute of Person-Centred Learning 1998)
I have also completed several years of Gestalt Psychotherapy Training and Integrative Psychotherapy Training, plus training in Traumatic Incident Reduction, in Brainspotting, and in issues specifically relating to childhood abuse and neglect; and issues of relevance to LGB people.
Experience
Over more than 30 years I have worked in a very wide variety of settings including the NHS, Voluntary sector, and Private Practice. I have also co-ordinated a mental health centre and two voluntary sector counselling services.
Due to the settings I have worked in, I probably have more experience than the majority of counsellors in working with people who have suffered childhood sexual abuse. I also have very extensive experience of work with LGBT people.
